jhild: I read the other day of a scenario by which Gore can become president (1) if the Florida count never is certified; (2) thus reducing the 270 electoral vote requirement. In other words, if Florida is taken out of the mix, then something like 257 electoral votes would be needed to win, and Gore already has, what, 267? The key question in my mind is what happens if Miami-Dade isn't completed by the Sunday deadline ... neither Gore nor Boies nor Douglass seemed too concerned about the impending deadline tonight. Perhaps they figure the GOP will mount a challenge in the interim, thus delaying the date of certification. Dunno. Very confusing.
