If the chad is dimpled as the ones shown the punch card was placed correctly on the voting machine. If the card is not inserted properly then all marks would be offset and I've head and seen none of this. I've used punch cards voting in past and placing the card into the voting machine incorrectly is only done by individuals in confirns. The machines and stylus I remember created a very accurate to 1/64 of an inch alignment of the thru hole and perforation chad area. But even if offset the physics of the forces I've calculated would allow the puncture of the card. I did and experiment. I create an alignment tool and a dull stylus of the dimensions 1/8 x 3/32. I took some card stock and dropped a one ounce weight 1 inch and the card stock was dimpled as deeply as those shown. I conclude that just placing the stylus lightly in the hole and withdrawing it would create a dimple mark. NO intent. Tom Watson tosiwmee
