<ot>Hi Carl - most people have expected the FL SC decision. To me, it is a "middle of the road" approach. The dems get the extension but not as long as they have asked. I don't know this is a blatant case of ignoring the stature. As the court has stated, the guiding principle is based on the consistent application of "the will of the people." The court has stopped short of citing precedents, but it is within the realm of other statures. But then, I am not a legal eagle, just a common sense interpretation.

I heard in the news this morning, the reps controled legislature may get in to overrule the FL SC, should the outcome in favor of VP Gore [I personally don't think he is safe by any means, since the recount thus far has not provided enough *yield* for him!] If that happened, it would be truly messy

best, Bosco
