Japan is going to be using a proprietary GSM MAP network for their WCDMA networks? Can anyone comment on the GSM baseband network in Japan?

As far as I know, the GSM-MAP infrastructure that NTT Docomo will be using is identical to the European version. The only difference could be that Docomo's W-CDMA equipment will be compliant to Release '99 of the W-CDMA standards vs the '00 version. I doubt that there will be major differences....

I believe that Qualcomm's W-CDMA chipsets will also be compliant to Release '99....
