Date: 97-05-28 12:04:34 EDT

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1997--

-- Revenue-Generating Solutions Geared to Offering Carriers a
Competitive Edge --

Siemens Stromberg-Carlson will feature flexible
telecommunications solutions for voice, data, video and wireless
applications at this year's SuperComm show, held June 3-5 in New
Orleans. Visitors to booth No. 1849 will view the range of
revenue-generating applications available today to help carriers
differentiate their service offerings.
With solutions running the gamut from voice over the Internet to
distance learning, automated service provisioning to ADSL (Asymmetric
Digital Subscriber Line) high-speed data access, ISDN (Integrated
Services Digital Network) to AIN (Advanced Intelligent Network),
Siemens Stromberg-Carlson will demonstrate solutions geared to
optimizing revenues.
"Our customers reap the benefits of our turnkey solutions," said
Paul Carroll, vice president of marketing at Siemens
Stromberg-Carlson. "We not only sell the equipment, we can also
provide consulting services and systems integration, offer support
with applications development, and even assist with the promotion of
new services. Whether carriers are new to the telecommunications
market or long-time service providers, our goal is to help them
capitalize on the opportunities in today's open market."
A range of solutions for narrowband, broadband, access, wireless,
network management and the Internet will be demonstrated at the
Siemens Stromberg-Carlson exhibit. Highlights include:

-- ADSL High-Speed Data Access
An interactive end-user application features ADSL technology to
demonstrate the high-speed data access capabilities of Siemens'
XpressLink D products. Visitors can see the exceptional speed and
quality of video images transferred via ADSL technology for
applications featuring electronic commerce and real-time delivery of
MPEG-2 encoded video clips.
-- Interactive Distance Learning
Live DS3 links from a school in Conway, S.C., to the trade show
floor give visitors a glimpse of the real-world MainStreetXpress
broadband (ATM, Frame Relay and SMDS) solutions. This is a `live'
application currently at work in the Horry County school district
from service provider Horry Tel. Several times daily, students will
interact with presenters on the show floor to illustrate how ATM
technology makes distance learning both practical and effective.
-- AIN Service Creation and Deployment
A live Fast Feature Platform (FFP) system shows how premium
services can be rapidly customized and brought to market using AIN
(Advanced Intelligent Network) technology. With the use of the
INventor(tm) Service Creation Environment, users can create and
simulate new services and then transfer them to the FFP. This gives
service providers a means of differentiating their offering and
staying ahead of the competition.
-- Business Remote Control Unit -- High Traffic
The Business RCU-HT for EWSD(tm) system networks lets carriers
quickly deploy up to 188 high traffic access ports to abusiness
customer via standard T1 interfaces. Cost-effective and flexible,
the Business RCU-HT enables carriers to rapidly enter new business
markets and also target key markets with enhanced services.
-- Voice Over the Internet
The Voice over IP Gateway from Siemens Internet Solutions links
the Public Switched Telephone Network with the Internet, enabling
voice calls to be completed over the Internet. This capability lets
carriers expand their market reach by offering subscribers integrated
access and one-stop shopping for Internet services, including World
Wide Web access, voice, fax and e-mail -- all at a very low cost,
anywhere in the world.
-- Automated Flow-Through Provisioning of Any Service
Whether carriers are offering telephony, wireless, cable or
Internet service, the ServiceCoordinator(tm) system automatically
provisions the service from end-to-end. This customized business
tool provides automated support of all service management function
areas with the touch of a button.
-- D1900 PCS Solutions
The wireless D1900 PCS (Personal Communication Service) Base
Station will be on display to demonstrate mobile solutions for the
rapidly growing PCS industry. The PCS 1900 product line -- based on
GSM technology -- offers a range of radio cell and network control
systems.
