You are correct.

Militias are the special place for the wackos beyond the right edge of the Republican party line.

The Democrats have them too, but there are two direct problems and one indirect. The direct problem is that they appear to run the entire spectrum of the party, thus there may be quite a few of them (see comments on Gore's manic-depressive condition addressed earlier). An additional direct problem is that these people are just called, "wackos". This results in the secondary problem and that is we can't box these folks and give them a nice name...like militia. Thus they are hard to find. They have been called radicals, but that is not a term I think fair. Republicans could be radical too.

And this results in our party getting painted as having a "place" for the wackos.

There are wackos everywhere. Democrats just have more cover for theirs and they are not as well organized.
