no I don't think he is dishonest.
but there is not a lot of difference between lying, versus simply not telling the truth. and there are many things gw will not answer directly, or at all. we've seen this many times now.
of course, no one could stand up to the scrutiny that we require of a president these days. they have no private life or secrets left or allowed.
but when you have shame about something in your past, in public life someone will have an agenda to find out and use it against you. this was successful with bill. he was ashamed about his sexual mistakes... he got nailed when he lied, especially as boldly as he lied.
the truth is, everyone lies about what they are ashamed of, in some context. anyone truly honest will know they have done so. no exceptions, except for the self-righteous, self-deluded or dishonest.
but my concern for george, is that there is apparently a pretty huge part of his past he regrets, and unfortunately it will all slowly come out, and it will be used against him. it has become part of the political process in the US. |
