DoCoMo Executive Says Mobile Revenue May Disappoint, FT Reports

--From AOL.-- Cooters

Tokyo, Nov. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Third-generation mobile-phone networks may not provide the revenue growth European telecommunications operators are relying on, the Financial Times said in its Internet edition, citing an executive of NTT DoCoMo Inc., Japan's largest mobile phone company.

Companies will struggle to justify the more than 100 billion euros ($85 billion) spent on third-generation European licenses, the FT cited Keiichi Enoki, DoCoMo director for Gateway Business, as saying.

``I don't think the business model will fundamentally change from 2G to 3G. The essence of the cellular phone business will be the same,'' Enoki said, according to the FT.

Deutsche Telekom AG earlier this year said profitability is falling because of competition and higher spending on mobile services.
