The Paducah kid came from a conservative, church-going (Lutheran) family. I would also mention the case of Clay Shrout, who about 6 or 7 years ago shot and killed his two sisters and parents as they lay sleeping in their $350,000 home in Richwood, Ky. (rich suburb of Cincinnati), then took a gun to his affluent high school and held his class hostage before surrendering. Clay is currently serving a life term at the LaGrange, Ky., maximum-security penitentiary.
