I have the UTMOST respect for Alan Greenspan and never have questioned him. Nevertheless, I wonder if he'll need
to ease to calm the markets

Actually this latest decline to 2750 nasdaq began as a response to the failure of the fed to go to neutral. I work on Wall St. The same guys who bought condos, bmws etc last year with stock market profits are or will be forced to liquidate some of these assets to pay the first mortgage. A falling stock market, nasdaq in particular, can tank the economy. If there is a 1% annualized, oil induced rise in inflation for 6 months to ward off a disastrous recession, so be it. Unless Greenspan has Altzheimers he should be thinking this right about now. Maybe he will speak, hopefully softly to this point and remove this point of fear.
