Nortel is set to introduce its all-optical switch, in January. To my mind this is a classic march of disruption.

Too my mind it smells of hype. I may be wrong, but that is my gut feeling. I guess it will depend on what the words "all optical" mean. If it is truly "all optical" in the most literal sense (no conversion from optical to electrical, able to switch data packets based on their destination IP addresses"), then it will be truly disruptive, (assuming it doesn't cost beyond the economy of its benefit).

It it isn't reall "all optical" then it fall short of its hype and its level of disruptiveness is unpredictable, beginning at "not disruptive at all".

Sorry.
