Great, a secret benchmark program specially written so that a 1.5GHZ P4 can nose out a 1GHZ PC133 Athlon.
But I don't run secret benchmark programs. I run Windows 2000, Windows 2000 server, Linux, Citrix Winframe, Oracle 8.0.6, Oracle 8.1.6, SQL Server 7, Internet Information Server 4, Office 97, Office 2000, Visual C++ and executables compiled with it, Visual Basic and executables compiled with it, Arc Info 8, Arview 3.2, Mapobjects IMS, Borland C++ and executables compiled with it, Adobe Illustrator, WordPerfect, Corel Draw, and, well we use a lot of software.
All of these programs run a lot faster on an Athlon than they do on a P4. So for our needs P4 is overpriced and not particularly useful. But I have to admit, for running secret benchmark programs, P4 is perfect.
