Mr. Ben Van Dyk reports
International Bio-Recovery Corporation has confirmed the successful launch of a new line of high performance fertilizer products under the trademark FRENZ.
In addition to the aggressive product development underway for commercial growers in food production, IBR has developed the FRENZ '99 line of fertilizer products to address the growing needs of the home gardener, with earth friendly products for fruits and vegetables, as well as flowering plants.
The Canadian household retail garden supply market is estimated at $2.6-billion annually and is growing 16 per cent per year.
This is expected to increase to 31 per cent per year by 2020, as a reflection of the ageing boomer population.
$330-million of this market is spent directly on fertilizers and soil conditioners and is growing 28 per cent annually.
FRENZ products are scheduled to hit retail home and garden stores in Canada and the U.S. in Spring 2001.
IBR confirms that agreements have been signed with strategic marketing partners to begin effective distribution as follows:
Koval Marketing Associates
8 regional offices covering the western United States serving corporate retail accounts.
Fore-Tenn Marketing Ltd.
8 regional offices throughout Canada serving corporate retail accounts.
Eddi's Wholesale Garden Supplies Ltd.
Distributors to independent nursery retailers in B.C., Washington and Oregon.
Zoel Wholesale Garden Supplies
Distributors to independent nursery retailers on Vancouver Island.
The Company is continuing in its efforts to sign regional distribution agreements for FRENZ in western Washington and Oregon.
IBR has committed further marketing resources in the hiring of David Ingram as product manager for FRENZ fertilizer. Mr. Ingram brings a wealth of wholesale distribution experience and will report to Larry Les, director of marketing, fertilizer and feed products.
IBR is currently engaged in exciting new initiatives for the development of the company's products. Notably, Peter Jurkemik, IBR's agronomist, and Dr. Fahimeh Mirminachi, together with the marketing team have begun to successfully develop specialized product knowledge and through scientific research identify unique biological characteristics and applications.
IBR has completed trials with commercial growers, nurseries and greenhouses to develop products that build healthy soil, improve water retention, minimize disease, reduce leaching of nutrients and develop healthy roots.
The FRENZ fertilizer launch is a result of trials conducted in part at Pan American Nursery Products Ltd. Pan Am, with locations in BC, Ontario and Oregon, specializes in roses and other flowering plants and is a major supplier of live plants to big box retailers in Canada and the United States.
Derived from the biological engineering that is an integral part of IBR's proprietary enhanced ATAD process, these scientifically formulated products consistently deliver superior performance.
Most synthetically produced fertilizers rapidly leach through the soil profile. FRENZ technology prevents leaching and optimizes nutrient uptake over time resulting in healthier soil and essential nutrition for growing plants.
FRENZ has incorporated the immediate and proven benefits of chemical fertilizers with biological activators to provide optimal plant health and growth response.
FRENZ represents an additional revenue stream to augment the revenues from the sales of commercial agricultural fertilizer products.
In pursuing retail distribution, the company expects to broaden public awareness for the company and its fertilizer products, while at the same time increasing the demand for its unique biotechnology.
Applying biotechnology and fermentation engineering principles, and providing the optimal environment for naturally occurring thermophilic bacteria, IBR is able to produce specific biological ingredients with a wide array of commercial applications.
IBR products are well below the limits for heavy metals and vector attraction set by Canadian Standards and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for fertilizer.
Process control allows for the production of customized products for a variety of applications 365 days per year.
