I totally agree, Michael. I spent 30 min on the phone with a good friend of mine, who's a flight attendant with Delta from West Palm Beach, Florida. I tried to demonstrate to her, laws were not created for the sake of rewarding ignorance. That is truly what this is all about, ignorance.
I was taught a lesson in college, during my 1st two weeks of tenure. The professor handed us a pop quiz and asked us to read the directions, before starting the quiz. There were 20 ?'s and lengthy directions. I didn't read all of the directions, even after being told to do so on several occasions. I finished 19 ?'s and came down to the final ?. And it read, "DO NOT TAKE THIS EXAM"!
Much to my chagrin, I quickly reverted back to the directions, where the last sentence read, skip questions 1-19 and go directly to question 20. I really felt like an idiot then. The point is, it taught me a lesson to read directions, before applying what's needed for the task at hand.
The irony of our conversation was, she kept saying how important it was to count every vote, because this was for THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Yet, at the same time stating how confusing the ballot was, and she too would have paid no attention to the ballot. That she would have wanted to just punch the hole near Gore's name, in order to GET OUT OF THERE as quickly as possible.
Well my friends, if you demonstrate ignorance, don't expect laws to bail you out.
