How many times does the record have to be played before people learn the words?

Every time INTC has introduced a new architecture it has been highly critisized, it doesn't provide enough added performance for the money they say. No one will every buy it!!

Then, INTC turns up the manufacturing heat and begins to crank up the clock speed very rapidly. Suddenly, there is a very noticable gap between old generation processors and the current ones and the upgrade cycle begins.

The same thing is now beginning with P4. In a few months P4 will deliver 1.8 and 2.0 speeds and the performance gap between last generation and new generation will be much more noticeable. Don't these people get it? It is not just about the added benefits for video and audio. It's really about a new architecture that is highly scaleable...that is what P4 delivers. The added performance for tomorrows applications is nice but the rapid scaleability is what will make this processor family a success, just like it has for its predicessors.

Wake me after the Q4 earnings warnings and just before the 2.0 intro...then things will get interesting.
