Dear The Line Man: Excuse me for stepping in on you and Due Diligence, but unless you live and associate with Cubans you cannot understand how they feel. Nearly all of them have some relative living in Cuba. Many of them have relatives that died or suffered in the Bay of Pigs fiasco. All of them are no more then one generation removed from a people fleeing the problems of a Dictatorship and who gave up EVERYTHING to come here. As a result, I would say that Cubans in General are more comparable to Americans a 100 years ago or so then to us today. We seem to have become complacent in our attitudes and just accept freedom as a given and worry ourselves about other more mundane things. These people still remember how it COULD be and are quite sensitive to any indication of Government intrusion into their personal lives. It sort of like when you have a NEAR MISS in a car accident. Keeps you on your toes for awhile--right. But if everything is going along fine and you never have a close call you tend to sort of dose off while driving. JDN
