Ayahuasca,
Excellent post. Many kindred spirits walk the same physical and virtual paths. The pain is absolutely necessary for growth. Good times are a pleasure, but the challenges make us reach deeper then we would normally choose to go. Once we understand, the beauty is that we yield to the 'contours' of life's riverbed and see it all as the way it goes. If any label is needed it ALL appears 'good' because of deeper understanding rooting us in the experience of now. Realization- I AM ALIVE! The pain persists but perception shifts in our understanding and we literally are more 'present' in each moment. Wisdom: projection makes perception. We see what we believe and color it so. Clear vision, clear picture. This shift signals that you have extricated yourself [at least to a degree] from the attachment of who you think you are. How many really know who we really are?! So many levels, life itself becomes the ultimate holographic chess game. How wonderful to know, albeit with some degree of seriousness, that it IS a game.
No intention to be presumptuous but if interested, a patient gave me one of Anthony De Mello's paperback books, some of his oral discussions recorded and printed in short easy chapters. I could easily recommend Jonathan Livingston Seagull or Illusions or The Alchemist or...they all touch in metaphor the reality of waking up to the experience that we are more then we 'think' and there IS a real reason to our being here. Someone once said, 'I do it with drugs!' The sage says, 'You may have the visit with the saint, but you can not stay there. Love, motive behind action and intention is the only way.'
Awareness- The perils and opportunities of reality.
As Charles Osgood from CBS says of the book, "This is your wake-up call! You may not have even realized you were sleepwalking. Most of us are most of the time. Awareness is an eye-opener. It's Anthony de Mello telling you gently but firmly, 'It's time to get up now.'"

Thanks for your words, in tough times it helps to know there is a head and heart behind some of our monikers.
Enjoy the day,
