It looks like the Republicans are more delighted to have a chance to throw out this stab-in-the-back accusation than they would be with the votes. Should the military be allowed to vote the day after the election if they see there's a close race? What steps should be taken to prevent this, and whose fault is it they weren't taken? They had days and days after the election to work out guidelines for ensuring a fair result. Indeed both laws have been on the books for years, IIRC.

A discarded military vote that was cast on time certainly represents a failure of the system to register a voter's intent. But so does a voter in Palm Beach County who will sigh an affidavit that she mistakenly voted for Buchanan because of a confusing ballot.
