Turkey with dressing is in one oven, roast beast in the other. Hot roll dough rising. Boiler onions peeled. Cranberry sauce finished. My mother brought four pies from the Pie Lady, apple, pumpkin, mince, and Key lime. I bought three bottles of wine, Uncle Stan brought some port, and my mother brought some sherry. We're getting there. ETF (Estimated Time of Feast) 3:00 p.m.

On this special day, let's remember to give thanks for our Constitution and our freedom. We take them for granted. We shouldn't.

I am also giving thanks for Kiwi, my favorite kitten. She jumped onto a very heavy wooden pallet while I was cleaning the garage, and it tipped over, fell on her, and broke the radius and ulna of her left front leg. The veterinary clinic we took her to had an orthopedic surgeon, who performed an open reduction and put in six pins. She is home now, with a cast, and she also has a Fentanyl patch stapled to her side. Stapled because she kept chewing it off. Total cost over $1000. I am also thankful that I had the money. But ouch!

Kiwi doesn't let the cast stop her from jumping up onto tables and countertops. She is sporting a purple heart necklace awarded for conspicuous bravery in the face of adversity.

Kiwi is thankful to be home.

Happy Thanksgiving from me and Kiwi!
