Pardon my attempt at spelling his name, but Monahan, one of the brightest lights ever elected in the U.S., once claimed that one of the most disturbing trends he's witnessed over his lifetime in public service was the deterioration of outrage citizens exhibit in response to misconduct of public officials. He claimed that scandalous, perfidious, behaviour, which would generate a profound uprising of indignation in the earlier years of his career hardly merits a shoulder shrug today. And he's a Democrat.

Whoever claimed that citizens get the leaders they deserve was making an accurate observation. I'm kinda partial to the bumper sticker which claims that if you're not outraged, you're just not paying attention.

There's two kind of Canadians: The informed and the electors of Liberals. These constituencies are mutually exclusive.

Cheers, PW.
