Why I am a Conservative:

Conservatism is a philosophy which encompasses freedom, morality, and individualism. A typical conservative does not fit the dictionary definition as one opposed to change. Nor does it fit the description of one who wants to go back to an earlier time. Both of these are common misconceptions of critics of conservatism (i.e.. the left) A conservative fits the general description as one who:

· Believes in a minimal role of government. This particularly applies to economic and fiscal issues

· Believes in a strong emphasis on moral values and strict enforcement of criminal law

· Believes in individual freedom and the protection of these freedoms at all costs. These Freedoms include all first amendment rights as well as inalienable rights

· Believes in equal opportunity for all to succeed after putting forth an effort

I strongly adhere to conservatism because of my belief in individualism and my support of strong moral character.

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." - Winston Churchill
