Republicans have got to get real. Bush will probably win but dimple chads are the legal means of detecting intent even in Texas. And by law Gore has the right to the hand recounts in the three counties, like it or not.

But absentee votes nomatter who they're from have to be post-marked, signed, witnessed etc. I haven't heard any actual military voters complaining just Republicans who don't give a rat's ass about the soldiers, they just cry foul without even knowing if there's any evidence of wrong-doing.

The reason the Florida Supreme Court squashed Harris is not a partisan issue (except clearly with her). It is merely because those recounts are authorized and countable by law and that's all there is to it. Unless they'll make no difference to the final election results. Which they will.

Despite the angry and often viciously strident and partisan tactics of the right, Gore has every legal right to do what he's doing and may in fact have won the election fair and square. Until the totally legal recounts are finished we just won't know. It may not SEEM fair to Republicans but them there's the rules.

As for military votes that a hot-button political issue, not a legal one. Any absentees without post-marks could be fraudulent and filled in after the election. Therefore they cannot be counted military or not.

Also remember who your candidates are, two guys who avoided the war. Gore volunteered and went and Leiberman is a bigger hawk than any of them. Even Cheney. Lieberman was the one who wanted Saddam finished off. And he was right. The whole GOP strategy to make the Dems look anti-military is a fallacy. The military has never been stronger or paid better. Just talk to any solder. Republican big-mouths on the right who say Gore isn't fit to be Commander In Chief are deluded or just straight-out lying. None of them probably served in the military. I'm sick of hearing them and I think those types really hurt the GOP. Most people know better and dislike the negativity. Besides it's Bush going to Supreme Court to try and stop the recounts. That's more of a theft of the election than re-counting. Re-counting is the way to determine the vote most accurately. All states agree with that.

I give credit to the Democrats for not going personal or calling the other side traitors or thieves. They basically have a lot more class under pressure.

PS - Cheney ought to resign. Four heart-attacks? My buddy had a bi-pass like Cheney's and immediately resigned his executive position. His doctor told him to so as to avoid excess stress. Bush is really selfish if he doesn't cut Cheney loose. The man could die in office very quickly. And believe me, the stress is just beginning. If Bush-Cheney win they're going to be under constant pressure. Especially if they win without having the full recounts tallied.

Anything could still happen. Wish it would end though for my stocks sake. Boy has this thing hit the market hard.
