President Dimples? Instead of trying to change the rules, Gore should show a little statesmanship.

Al Gore can't win without the dimpled ballots. That is the single, irreducible, final truth of the 2000 campaign for the U.S. Presidency. No dimples, no White House for Al Gore.
Thus, like the Terminator robot, Al Gore grinds on across the state of Florida, programmed only to win. No sooner had his lawyers locked up the Florida Supreme Court Tuesday night, than the Miami-Dade canvassing board broke out of the compound Wednesday, declaring that the hand-counting there was over and they were certifying their results from November 8. With Miami-Dade's dimples evaporating, the Gore lawyers went on a fruitless search for a Florida court to agree with them that "the law" should force Miami-Dade to do what Al Gore wants them to do: count his dimpled ballots. ------ The time has arrived for Mr. Gore, or the Democratic party, to call off the dogs and revisit the statesmanship that existed in the early hours after the day that the United States voted for a new President.
