Gore's rallying cry of "Every vote counts" really means "Every Gore vote counts" and I think you know that. The man is so disingenuous.

<<But Texas allows them and Bush signed a bill that allows manual recounts as preferable. Now he says 'no dimpled chads' and 'no manual recounts.' >>

Surely any rational person would agree that Gore's "selective recount" ONLY of highly Democratic counties violates the 14th Amendment rights (equal protection under the law) of uncounted, dimpled Republican votes in equally highly Republican counties.

Gore doesn't want equal treatment for all voters... It is obvious.

Gore is a vicious political pit bull, bereft of principle. History will show him to be just that when the dust settles.

And if you are going to cite the Texas rulings on chads, witness the hypocrisy of Gore's point man, Dennis Newman with respect to chads (it really depends on which candidate he wants to win):

Message 14869064

Four years ago, in a similar election spat, Newman took a much different stand. Employing his best legal tactics on behalf of a Democrat holding a slight lead in a primary race for Congress, Newman scoffed at the idea of counting the tiny indentations as votes.

Like the Republicans watching now, Newman wondered out loud how ballots that had been handled over and over, in recount after recount, could still be impartially judged. Couldn't the ballots -- and therefore the votes -- be affected by all that touching and grabbing?

"I don't think they are handled with kid gloves," he said in The Boston Globe.
