10 mil shares traded on WCOM. +6%. I like this telecom if for nothing else but for Uunet. And perhaps some of A.T. & T.'s woes are from competitive pressures by WCOM ? . . . that has not been discussed out of reverence to T.

I have said since the first month here at HOME that ultimately it will be the telecoms that will make the lions share of the internet monies. So if you believe that the internet is not dead, then it is worth calculating who the winners will be. I believe that WCOM, MSFT, FON and ORCL are 4 stocks that will see increasing revs from internet traffic over the years. . . and are all at low prices.

Not as much movement in wireless today. . .though some like INSP and GOAM are seeing nice gains. I think there is simply too much competition in the sector. Is it my imagination or are there many thousads of wireless companies? How does one pick a single winner?

I still don't like DSL. Never did. If you were to go back to the first months of this thread, you would see my technical reasons for my decision. . . .having mostly to do with the high cost of upgrading so many nodes. The regional Bells are simply unwilling to make the investment in these necessary upgrades to allow higher speed data. Thus, demand is extraordinary. . . .but progress is extremely slow. And in my opinion, it is still too slow to catch up to cable modems. And now, cable modems are being sold in electronics stores. . . .so there should be some price softening. . .as well as more consumer awareness with cable modems. Just because one technology works better than another, does not mean that it will get the biggest market share. I am still baffled by A.T. & T. not releasing the millions of set-top boxes we know they have stored in warehouses. I often wonder about the motivation of this company. . . buying up the cable companies to the point of alienating the investors and risking the future of the company. Forget MediaOne! Release those set-top boxes!

Do I need to fly to New Jersey and shake things up there?

>g<

I have still probably personally sold more A.T. & T. [or other for that matter] set-top boxes for accessing online services than any person in history. [see history of Viewtron and the Sceptre Terminal]

But then one thing I did learn about these massive companies. . . is that sometimes they want to win. . . and sometimes they are more interested in "learning from their experience" than they are in winning. . . strange as that sounds.
