Dawgfan,

I highly recommend Edwards & Magee's Technical Analysis of Stock Trends. Worth $52 on Amazon.

The BA broadening pattern (three higher highs interspersed with two lower lows; can also have a flat top or bottom) isn't perfect; you need to use the 9-13 high and 9-19 low to call it. The 9-26 top, 10-12 bottom and 10-31 top complete the pattern. The fourth high, at 69.50 on 11-21, did not take out the 10-31 high of 67.88 by the required 3% (2.0364 + 67.88 = 69.92) to be bullish, so the pattern should be viewed as bearish. The top may already be in. The predicted move would be 67.88-54 (previous reaction low), or 13.88 points, which would make the minimum downside 40.12. That move would only be predicted by a close below 54 by 3%, but I'd take any failure below 69.92 as bearish. Good luck.

Paul
