George and his two pet generals

By Celeste Harrison Whitlow

November 7, 2000 | No one can miss the irony of GWBush having his two pet generals, General Powell and General Schwartzkopf, stumping for him on the campaign trail.

Neither of Bush's two pet generals would be the success they are to day if the men who served under them had gone AWOL for 18 months at a time, and had refused to obey their orders.

Yet the American public continues to be shown Bush's two pet generals, Powell and Schwartzkopf, out on the campaign trail for GWBush.

Powell and Schwartzkopf's endorsement of GWBush is a slap in the face to every brave soldier who served under them, some of them risking and losing their lives to obey the orders that Powell and Schwartzkopf gave.

Both Powell and Schwartzkopf should hang their heads in shame, turn in their medals, and apologize to the dedicated, loyal military personnel who served them without question, fulfilled their duties with honor, and did not run away.
