That has been Intels mantra all of these yr.s; that it paid to pay extra for speed. In fact, that is what the P4 is all about, mhz. Mhz will always matter.

In the past, all that extra speed was important because the software that was being used by the average schmoe ran better on faster chips. Now, the speed has gotten ahead of the software, except for gamers. Speed and performance will be important again, maybe even as soon as Q101, but I don't see it now. BTW, I have been critical of Intel for engaging in this silly speed war. The 1.13 fiasco was one result, and the jury is still out on the p4 launch.

But, performance counts just as much. Lets not kid ourselves. Both AMD and Intel need to get extra for their high performance chips.

How many buyers in the PC market read all these benchmarks that are posted all over these threads? If they do, why the hell is AMD stock so stagnant? Why is AMD apparently the first company in the history of the world to be so hugely more advanced than its only real competitor, and no one sees it except for AMD mod thread posters?
