Democracy... Stronger Than Ever...
***********************************
Jeff:

Perhaps history will give us a clearer view of what really took place during this presidential election... Both candidates wound up in a virtual tie... Al Gore did call George Bush to concede the night of the election when he thought he lost... Only when the race tightened up in Florida and questions about large numbers of votes not being counted, did Gore decide to see what the real intent of the Florida voters were...

Forget about the Butterfly Ballot in Palm Beach County... If people can't follow instructions, too bad for them... But when a voting machine does not completely punch a chad through because of a defect, don't blame the voter... The manufacturer has already said that there is a problem with the first column strike plates where the presidential candidates are... As a result of this some chads don't get fully punched through... Should we deny these voters the right to have their votes counted because of a voting machine malfunction? I don't think so... There are votes for Gore and Bush sitting in piles by the thousands where the voter intent was thwarted by a machine...

If we really want to see who won an election, we should count all the votes... Including machine error votes and Military votes that are properly dated and signed and where the voter actually requested an absentee ballot... The postmark requirement should not be applied to the Military, but should be required by civilians overseas...

We are seeing Democracy in action... With all the jokes, this disagreement about the vote is being handled peacefully, except for two Gore supporters that were punched by some Bush supporters in Miami... Our Democracy is stronger than any two pretenders to the throne, or any thugs using third world intimidation tactics...
