Nadine, you did not read my post accurately. The technology to create the required accuracy of alignment was created in the early 18th century. Well actually it was most likely created much earlier. I'm speaking of what is required to place a blank in a jig with sufficient accuracy to guide a manual implement to within 1/64 of an inch. The punch card machine and the voting machine are more recent implmentation using this basic concept of sliping a cardboard ballot card into a jig to align location that represent votes.

The current voting machines are elegant simplicity. This is not rocket science. fvwm.home.dhs.org This is also elegant.
