poet- it's ok. and i apologize if i made it seem that i was making light of your or anyone's encounters with evil. i spent six years with satan as a stepfather when i was a small child. he made david copperfield's stepfather seem like a good father. his voice and demeanor was exactly like the leader of the blue meanies of yellow submarine fame. he was a former army drill sergeant and told us he was teaching us disipline, loyalty, respect and honor - i swore that i would kill him when i grew up, for the sadistic beatings and reign of terror unleashed upon my mother and my siblings. the trouble is (or actually, the fortunate thing is) i grew up too much. i did not see him from the time i was eleven years old until i was in my forties. he was lying in bed dying of aids. he was a shell of his former self. his eyes were blood red and filled with tears. he was impotent in every sense. i sat on his bed and touched the horns on his head gently. with genuine compassion and sincerity, i said, "i forgive you" and i gave him a kiss. he died shortly after that encounter. he died forgiven. it changed my life - i was free of evil forever by virtue of love. -polvie
