James: Thank you for your candid post. You made several solid points. Obviously, we're looking at this problem from different perspectives. Kentucky and the Bay Area are three time zones and several "mind zones" apart. If I lived in the Bay Area, I might well think as you do. When I think of affirmative action, I think in broader terms than most. The discrimination I see personally on a daily basis is less racial than in many areas of the country. Instead, it's based on income level. The haves discriminate against the have-nots, and it doesn't make all that much difference if the have-not is black or white.
