I know the punishment seems harsh, but be thankful you weren't convicted in Finland.
11/25 06:Finnish Millionaire Fined $70,470 for Speeding, FT Reports By Christine Harper
London, Nov. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Jaakko Rytsola, a Finnish Internet millionaire, was fined 500,000 Finnish markka ($70,470) for speeding -- the highest-ever traffic fine in the country, the Financial Times reported, without citing its sources.
Rytsola, who with his brother Antti is a shareholder in Jippii Group Oyj, was found guilty of driving 70 kilometers per hour in a 40 kilometer-per-hour zone in late October, the paper said. Rytsola was previously fined the equivalent of $42,000 for weaving between lanes in Helsinki traffic, the FT said. Fines are linked to an individual's gross income and the seriousness of the offense, the paper said.
The Rytsolas are the owners of the first Lamborghini sports cars in Finland, and the report quotes an unidentified Finnish business consultant saying the Rytsolas ``symbolize the new wealth.'' Rytsola said he would have preferred to go to prison and donate the fine to charity, though he wasn't given that choice, the paper said.
Jippii Group, an online-services provider, went public in April and has a market value of 255.6 million euros ($214 million).
