Not sure what the current "obsolescence period" for a computer is, but my guess is that it is shortening in the wake of increasing internet speed and memory demands and increasing speed and memory demands of sophisticated new peripherals...Probably between 2 and 3 years, which if so, suggests a fairly large installed base of 200 to 300 MHz computers are about to be turned over...No doubt some will look at the 700 MHz Pweeiii sweet spot, the Kmart and Wally World specials, but my guess is that by the time those are out of the box, a 1.2 gig Athy/DDR will be readily available at an affordable price...The more likely upgrade in such a scenario will be a 1.2 gig Athy/DDR or higher computer imho...
