By now, British and German 3G operators are no doubt breathing down the necks of vendors to deploy WCDMA networks fast. This time pressure in turn gives QCOM an enviable upper hand in any IPR negotiations. So if anything, this is the best time to own Q!

I'm sure the European operators are better versed in DoCoMo's problems than were are since they don't have to rely on only what's reported in the press. Since I can't think of a good news reason why DoCoMo would start the Mea Culpas on W-CDMA, the European (and everyone else) operators who have bet so heavily and so publicly on W-CDMA must be sweating too. Will someone crack under the pressure and "Test" CDMA2000 or 1xEV just to cover the bases? If someone does it will probably have a bigger positive impact than when NOK finally capitulates and gets their 3G license.
