There once was a President in the 1990s who looked right at the American people and lied to their faces. The people were outraged. He said "Read my Lips. No new taxes." My god, we should have impeached him ! The problem isn't that dems or repubs are all bad. Dems play hardball at times, so do their opponents. Republicans even have good ideas sometimes. Then they go and destroy all credibility with their one sided blind demonization of All Things Not Them. The one thing that drives Americans crazier than sleaze and corruption is self righteous hypocrisy. Makes it real hard to take them seriously (Mr. Gingrich, Hyde, Starr, and Livingston......). Now we see it again in the election process. Are demos free of it ? Probably not -- but you beat us in this hypocrisy game by a mile. Remember Nixon ? - now there was dignity and faith in government. Remember Reagan ? - over 180 indictments of his cabinet and cronies - a new record that still stands. Like DiMaggio's, it may never be topped ! Which leaves Ford as about your only clean and honest President in the past 30 years. How well did he do ? And W. is the best you can do ? Self delusion is almost as funny as self righteousness.
