Scott, good post, but no, the Sun top of the line servers that don't have cache ECC have large L2 cache:

Cache per processor Primary: 16-KB instruction, and 16-KB data on chip
Secondary: 4-MB external cache

It is hard to believe that is true. Competitors like IBM would have made a big deal out of that.

Yes, that's why I said Compaq sales should be all over that.

Edit. Might as well show the Sun 10000 specs (top of the line Sun). Only mention of ECC is for memory, which would be main memory.

That's true. IBM is the master (and creator) of FUD. Actually, Sun's no-ECC isn't FUD, it's the truth. Maybe IBM can't handle that.
