I agree. Gore's win of the national popular vote is not grounds for claiming the presidency. However, the fact that he was the "people's choice" (as opposed to Bush, who is the choice of the states) does give Gore a legitimate right to challenge the Florida results ... for however long ... because I am one of those Democrats who voted for the platform more than I voted for the candidate.

I think that as long as Gore has the support of the Democrats in Congress for a "full" fight, he will do just that. When Daschle and Gephardt say "Time's up," Gore will step aside.

In all reality, though, I do not see the fight extending past inauguration day, Jan. 20. But I think it's going to be hot and heavy right up to I-day.
