i am convinced that fuel and other energy prices are critical (and an early indicator) to determining the harshness of the landing. this poster talks about gas prices being way down (20 to 30 cents) in the northeast.

can anyone confirm his observations?
if he is right, coupled with what i have seen in the southeast over the past few weeks of travel, the market may indeed be a coiled spring. needing only the current government uncertainties to be resolved before really taking flight.

i welcome the supreme court's interference. i believe they will act swiftly and prudently to bring the dispute to a reasonable, lawful, and final resolution. we can wait another week for that.

i also welcome Gore's continued pressure...my 80 year-old pop just changed his party affiliation. he explained at dinner...
he does not think his grand and great grandchildren should have been exposed to the immorality of the clinton/gore regime. he never did like gore not taking a stand against clinton's women abuse habits, but pop was still willing to support him.
he now believes that gore is intent on harming big business and small business alike just to reduce the tax base, slow the economy, make tax reductions more difficult, and to provide a basis for continued fear mongering among oldsters by the demos.

pop is pretty smart...he is a retired civil servant who also owned and managed a small business for 40 years. he was really upset by the indecisiveness around the concession phone call and later retraction...and by the press alert to a concession speech and then gore driving off...leaving all in the rain.

he explained to all of us how important it is, when time is available, to gather all of the information before making a decision. now, he does not think gore should have his finger on the nation's nuclear trigger. it is difficult to call back a missile once launched.

coupling his view with others i have heard from and a coupla earlier posts here, i believe gore's actions may result in a huge backlash sooner and later.
