<ot>Hi Carl - based on your response, maybe I am overly optimistic. I believe [hope?] the party leadership of both sides, especially the GOP, since this is the current tactical, will reign in the unruliness before it gets out of hand. They should have learned from Seattle situation of last year.
I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree. I believe the USSC, while it is undoubtedly conservative, will stay clear of overly political expression. Face it, this contest is an extraordinary event. As you have rightly pointed out, the voting nation is evenly split. So, if one puts on a mathematican hat, there is not one winner or one loser. So, all those usual +/- 3% models have gone to numerical heaven. I think the USSC sees the weightiness of the issue. I for one will feel the relevance of the USSC ruling, just as I feel the FLSC seems reasonable. Besides, perception is the FLSC is too pro dems and USSC is too pro reps, so should that be considered "justice is done?" <VBG> I think a lot of good will come out of this. Unfortunately, the two camps have positioned themselves in such a way that backing down will require a lot of finesse. For that angle, it is a good show <VBG>!
Btw, I agree with you that the impact of the protest has lost its punch as time wears on, maybe my initial dismay is more b/c my feeling that the pols were insulting our intelligence more than anything else. But then, not everyone has read ML Mencken :)
