Most concerts I went to in the "old days" have blurred with the passing of time, but the one time I saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra stays pretty vivid in the memory. McLaughlin had the audience (a fairly large one) in the palm of his hand, and he never said anything. He just stood there playing that twin necked Gibson, making sounds that seemed impossible. And Cobham was a close second in making Mahavishnu what it was. It might be that that band had the very best in each instrument. I can't think of a better guy on keyboards than Jan Hammer. Nice to know their stuff is being revived.
