hi tc

excellent info on determining whether a prog is 16 or 32-bit. and to tell you the truth, it really points up how resourceful norton systemworks (or norton utilities) is to display this info with a few clicks in the system info section.

when i clicked through to the linked article you provided, i was happy to find the pcmag solution section. have to bookmark that!

zdnet.com

then while perusing the above, i looked a little deeper into this solution....

zdnet.com

"PC Magazine's free Scraper utility helps by allowing point-and-click copying of error message text to the Clipboard"

man, that utility is right up our alley, isn't it? to think of all the error messages i have written down by hand! <g3>

i'll download and install it on both os's.

[edit: here's the download link for scraper zdnet.com ]

thanks for helping out, as always

:)
