Yes, that's the essence of it Mike. But it is really not just an opinion. It doesn't work out mathematically, even if you're only talking SDTV. There just isn't enough available spectrum to provide the service to thousands of customers simultaneously. A couple hundred simultaneous is about it. How they oversubscribe the service depends on a couple things, but mainly price and available options. If they charge an arm and a leg per VoD session and only have a very limited number of movies, they could probably oversubscribe it by 10x or more (i.e. they could say they are providing the service to thousands of customers).

But at the other extreme, if they gave it away for free during the trial (whether they had a good selection or not), they probably couldn't oversubscribe it by much at all)
