Or people who are willing to let him get off with a slap on the wrist for painting the majority of America as racist and hate-filled.

Ron, did you read the Begala piece? Constant Reader posted it. He did not paint the majority of anything as racist. Go back and read it. He said that the picture is complex. He said 1) that millions of good people in Middle America voted Republican; 2) that a bunch of ugly stuff (the excerpted paragraph) has happened there; and 3) a bunch of good stuff has happened there too. Once again, the picture is complex. Go back and read it. With an open mind.

There is a HUGE difference between race-baiting in an attempt to divide this nation for political purposes, and waving the flag (which both parties can and should do) and protecting the rights of military voters.

See how you're coloring things? the race-baiting is divisive but the flag waving is protecting rights? Yeah, sure! The flag waving was calculated to inflame the veterans against the Dems, which it very effectively did.

We simply don't see such elevated rhetoric by Republicans. And if we did, Republicans would probably be the first to disclaim and reject it.

Ron, there is at least as much elevated rhetoric coming from the Republicans. You're just too partisan to either see it or admit it. If you persist in this their-shit-don't-stink view of the Reps, I'm gonna have to get on X's bandwagon.
