The venture capital for dot-coms has dried up considerably over the last 8-9 months. A dot-com with a vague plan that has poor visibility for earnings cannot do an IPO at this time. Alta Vista is still delaying their IPO. General Search wanted to do one and reverse-merged into TIGI instead. But there are still possibilities for the dot-com that is profitable or is close to profitable. When reading about iWon.com--the search engine/portal which draws users by giving away sweepstakes money--I was struck by CBS's $70 million investment in iWon. Just because the IPO scene is so bad doesn't mean that nobody has money. The money is out there. If TIGI could show some momentum, there may some old-economy behemoth who would like some Internet exposure.........Another possibility along the same lines is foreign money. There are many overseas parties that would like to get in on the American Internet. Once again, if TIGI could show some signs of success, I suspect the company will have no problem in attracting all the money it wants.
