Of course I read it Karen.

I read how he claimed that LBJ, by passing the civil rights act, had handed the south to the Republicans. This DESPITE the fact that the south was predominantly democratic at the time. THE "Blue-Dog" conservative democrats were the ones opposing civil rights and thus LBJ's own policies.

Maybe you've forgotten that George Wallace, the Alabama governor who stood on the steps of the schoolhouse trying to prevent black students from being admitted to the school, was a Democrat. Maybe you've forgotten that many democratic politicians were supported by the KKK (Wallace lost to one of these, Folsom, in an earlier election).

europe.cnn.com

"Four years later, he ran again and won the governor's chair. His winning platform included a promise to take on the federal government for "interfering" in the state's affairs and a vow of "segregation forever.".....

"Wallace was a Democrat at a time when virtually every Southern politician was a Democrat; a segregationist at a time when, he believed, most white Southerners were as well. He was a lifelong populist who said he wanted to be remembered as the education governor."

And I never said Republicans Sh*t doesn't stink.. But for you to claim that Gore asking for only 3 heavily democratic counties to be recounted, and then when the electronic recounts failed to give him the edge he wanted, asked the Florida Supreme Court to change election laws for certification expirations is not "stealing the election" is complete BS.

While I've been politically minded and opinionated for years Karen, but I've NEVER SEEN ANYTHING like this.

I've never seen election rules made up as they go along AFTER the election. I've never seen counting standards changed post-facto, as they have been in this election.

I've never seen so much unwillingness to analyze the intent of the "undervotes" while discarding the obvious possibility that the voter may have only been willing to vote for the non-presidential candidates, thus abstaining from a presidential vote. But no.. they have to count "pregnant" ballots until they get the number that they need to win (which is easy once all the absentee ballots have been counted or disqualified).

If this isn't stealing, then I hope you'll be able to find the time to tell me what it is.

And if you believe that analyzing the intent of an anonymous ballot has the same weight of credibility when compared to trying to confirm the vote of a SIGNED absentee ballot from a service member, then I guess we'll never agree.

There were no reports heard about Bush lawyers sending out 5 page memos telling counters/observers how to disqualify absentee ballots from Israel.

All Bush has been saying, to my understanding, is that it is a violation of the 14th amendment to cherry pick specific counties for recounts based upon political demographics. If you manually recount those 3 democratic counties when there is no evidence of fraud, manipulation, or malfunction, you should recount the entire state.

Otherwise, they are discriminating against voters in other Florida counties, as well as voters across the nation, simply because none of us were able to have our votes counted in a more "accurate" manner according to NON-CHANGING, ALREADY ESTABLISHED STANDARDS.

I could EASILY twist Begala's comments about the sea of red in the Banana Republica, and focus on the black and blue that places like New York and DC "represent".

Places where a black man who stabs and kills a 8 year old white child in broad daylight, simply because they discover upon examing his home that he hates white kids and wants to kill them all.

Yet, while crying over the "hate crime" that was committed by whites against James Byrd, the Federal government was COMPLETELY UNWILLING to press hate crime prosecution against this black man. They let the state of Virginia handle the case since they don't have a hate crime law.

Now tell me about hypocrisy Karen.. Or better yet, tell it to Kevin Schiffler's parents.

There is PLENTY to be outraged about... And that outrage coming from me, is outrage at people receiving special treatment from the law. Outrage that a black criminal can get away with a hate crime against an 8 year old child, while Bush gets crap for sending 2 white men to their deaths for dragging James Byrd behind their truck.

All I want is fairness Karen. And I want political leaders to demand the same thing under the law.

Regards,

Ron
