Most of the attacks on Harris are typical political bs. Begala called her a "dilettante debutante hack." Chris Lehane called her a "soviet commissar." She seems like a tough lady, I doubt those idiot comments bother her. The distinguished law professor Alan Derschowitz called her a "crook." I hope she sues him for that.

Most of the comments about Harris have been just plain old catty. This one from the Washington Post had me rofl:

"Her lips were overdrawn with berry-red lipstick--the creamy sort that smears all over a coffee cup and leaves smudges on shirt collars. Her skin has been plastered and powdered to the texture of pre-war walls in need of a skim coat. And her eyes, rimmed in liner and frosted with blue shadow, bore the telltale homogenous spikes of false eyelashes. Caterpillars seemed to rise and fall with every bat of her eyelid, with every downward glance to double-check--before reading--her most recent 'determination.'"

Nice writing - if you write for Variety.

This is all very comical, but the thing that was chilling was the comment made by a Gore aide when they thought she might certify the election last week. He said, "If she certifies this election, she better get ready for a Whitewater style investigation of her life."

I know you're probably not happy that Dubya is going to be president, but you should be happy that people who are that ruthless have to cool their heels on the sidelines for a while.
