Remember the Mark Mobius (Templeton fund) commercial that starts:
"Do you know the difference between Slovenia and Slovakia?"

Well, all my grandparents came from Slovenija. This small country of 2M people is the northernmost region of the former Jugoslavija, bordering on Avstrija(Austria), Italija(Italy), Madzarska(Hungary), and Hrvaska(Croatia). They were the first region to break away, and shifted from communism to a democratic free enterprise system in 1992.

I've visited there twice, in 1989, and 1995.

I read the posting you referred to, and yep, he and I agree. America's recent conversion (last 10 years) to focus on quality, is an enormous effort, and will stand our country in good stead. And quality depends on knowledge; Deming says there is "There is Nooo substitute for Knowledge".
