S Korea Hot Stock: Chip Shrs Up On US Share Surge Fri
SEOUL (Dow Jones)--Shares of South Korea's semiconductor companies are sharply higher Monday on a surge in U.S. chip shares Friday, a rise in chip spot prices, and foreign buying, analysts said.
"Prices of 64 megabit dynamic random access memory chips, which fell to $3 per unit earlier, rebounded to around $5 recently," said Lee Young-won, an analyst at Daewoo Securities Co. "And a rise in shares of U.S. chip major such as Micron Technology helped fuel buying in local chip shares."
