zonkie, The line of Fed chairmen started during those yrears. Keep in mind that without Reagan, we would not be where we are today. It was under Reagan that the US forced the USSR into collapse, ending a 30 year cold war. Would the US be in its present position today? Would the world be where it is today? I don't think so. The byproduct of that event was a huge budget deficit. That is a small price to pay for what it accomplished.

Clinton became president at the very beginning of the upward economic cycle, as seen by the economic upturn in 1992. since it is obvious that it takes months, if not years to implement sound money policy to end a recessionary period, you can't possible say that Clinton turned things around 2 weeks after his inauguration.

All things aside, I am happy that we will have dignity back in the white house. the antics, politics and criminal activity going on inside those walls for the last 8 years is just shameful. Gore screwed himself when he said that Clinton would go down in history as one of america's greatest presidents (and that he invented the internet...and pants). tp
